Gardening Volunteer in Plymouth- What we are looking for! 

We are fortunate to have a large garden at our Hospital Hotel by Derriford Hospital in Plymouth, which those of you who are more green-fingered would be very welcome to volunteer to help enhance and tend. Our garden is highly valued by our guests, offering peace and tranquillity during what can be very difficult times.

We welcome all keen gardeners, community groups or businesses looking to support the local community and Volunteer in Plymouth.

This role is completely flexible with no set rota and so it is perfect to fit around your schedule and/or other work commitments. All we ask is that you attended at a time when the office is open: Monday - Friday 9am-4pm & Saturday - Sunday 10am-4pm

What you’ll be doing 

  • Undertake any light garden maintenance that you wish, this could be weeding, edging, trimming, pruning, or cleaning up the leaves. This role is very 'self-driven' and so you will have the flexibility to undertake gardening works that are akin to your interests or skills. 
  • New planting (once discussed with the Volunteer Coordinator.)

What kind of person are we looking for? 

  • Kind, positive, and respectful.  
  • You should enjoy meeting new people and have good non-judgemental communication skills 
  • Enthusiastic about Gardening!
  • You should be able to work well both as part of a team and independently.

Requirements: 

  • You must be able to adhere to service guidelines and manage appropriate boundaries, including the need for confidentiality.
