“Volunteering at Hearts Together was a very enjoyable experience and I felt that I made a difference by helping a lot of people feel comfortable, helping to reduce their stress, and creating a welcoming environment during a difficult time in their lives. I also gained a lot of skills during this time such as time management and admin skills”

How can you get involved?

  • Join our Housekeeping / Guest Services Team:

Our home-from-home accommodation in Plymouth sees around 10,000 patients, carers and relatives staying with us each year and we are open 365 days a year, this means there are a lot of beds to change! Tasks will vary from week to week however generally you will undertake basic cleaning and support duties alongside the Hearts Together Guest Services Team.

  • Fundraise!

You can also complete your volunteering activity or physical activity by fundraising for us or completing a sponsored challenge such as a Plymouth 5K! We can assist you with planning and running a range of fundraising activities that will count towards the requirements of your volunteering section over a period of time. If as part of your volunteering section, you will need to think carefully about your ongoing fundraising campaign and end goal, with dedicated volunteering time to achieve this.

  • Help in the Garden:

We are fortunate to have a large garden area, which those of you who are more green-fingered would be very welcome to help enhance and tend to. Our garden is highly valued by our guests, offering peace and tranquillity during what can be a very difficult time. You would be undertaking light garden maintenance, this could be weeding, edging, trimming, pruning, or cleaning up the leaves. This role is very limited and previous gardening experience would be beneficial. You could also tie this in with fundraising, helping to improve the garden space with a specific goal that you fundraise and implement!

  • Data Admin:

From time to time, we do have set admin roles, social media projects, or other computer-based work. If this is of interest to you or you feel that you have a particular skill that could help our charity please do let us know.
