Young Volunteers and The Duke of Edinburgh's Award Volunteers Here at Hearts Together we welcome young volunteers who are undertaking their DofE award, who are needing work experience/placement hours through school, college, youth groups, and The Prince Trust or individuals who are looking to volunteer to learn new skills and gain valuable working experience. We can offer a range of volunteer roles in such as Housekeeping and Guest Services, Data admin, Gardening, or Fundraising! You will meet new people, work as part of a close-knit team and support the many patients, carers and relatives who stay with us each week. You will also get to enhance your CV and learn skills, including increased confidence, teamwork, and people skills. Join our Housekeeping / Guest Services Team: Our home-from-home accommodation in Plymouth sees around 10,000 patients, carers and relatives staying with us each year and we are open 365 days a year, this means there are a lot of beds to change! Tasks will vary from week to week however generally you will undertake basic cleaning and support duties alongside the Hearts Together Guest Services Team. Fundraise! You can also complete your volunteering activity or physical activity for DofE by fundraising for us or completing a sponsored challenge such as a Plymouth 5K! We can assist you with planning and running a range of fundraising activities that will count towards the requirements of your volunteering section over a period of time. Help in the Garden: We are fortunate to have a large garden area, which those of you who are more green-fingered would be very welcome to help enhance and tend to. Our garden is highly valued by our guests, offering peace and tranquillity during what can be a very difficult time. You would be undertaking light garden maintenance, this could be weeding, edging, trimming, pruning or cleaning up the leaves. This role is very limited and previous gardening experience would be beneficial. You could also tie this in with fundraising, helping to improve the garden space with a specific goal that you fundraise and implement! Data Admin: From time to time we do have some basic admin roles, social media projects or other computer-based work. If this is of interest to you or you feel that you have a particular skill that could help our charity please do let us know. . What kind of person are we looking for? A friendly person with a passion for connecting with others. Someone with good communication and listening skills with a non-judgmental and empathetic approach. Someone who can work independently and as a part of a team. A person who is hard-working, diligent and takes care in what they do it. A reliable and trustworthy person. . What is required from you? To be reliable and conscientious in offering a regular commitment. You must be able to adhere to service guidelines and manage appropriate boundaries, including the need for confidentiality.
