Young Farmers! We are over the moon to have been selected as one of the charities of the year for not just one Young Farmer group but TWO! A huge thank you to both Warleggan Young Farmers and Camelford Young Farmers! Both clubs have had a fantastic start to their fundraising year with their fireworks nights and dung run! Warleggan and Camelford Young Farmers are based in Cornwall, in two key areas whereby we see many individuals and families travelling from in order to receive, often major or emergency, treatment at Derriford Hospital. Although we do accommodate guests from all over the UK, a large percentage of our guests are located across the southwest peninsula, as driving even a ‘short’ 40-minute route to Derriford Hospital across the difficult road network covering Devon and Cornwall can add unnecessary stress and strain at what is already a very difficult time. Our home-from-home accommodation provides a safe, understanding, and supportive place for individuals and families to stay. this is why our Hospital Hotel is so important, providing essential services and support to individuals during this time. As a small independent charity, this type of support from the Young Farmer groups is so appreciated and goes such a long way in making a real difference for so many people that find themselves in need of a stay here at our Hearts Together Hospital Hotel. We really enjoyed hosting both groups at the Hotel recently, showing them around and providing an in-depth insight into what we do, our impact, and exactly how their funds raised help. The Young Farmers Clubs are local community groups of around 20 young people (ages between 14 and 28). Each year they raise money for selected charities through various fundraising events, alongside weekly club meets, activities, and social events. We are so excited to be part of both of their fundraising endeavors this year and look forward to the various events!
