Our grants and donations to cardiology teams across the south west

TOE Simulator for the South West Cardiothoracic Unit

Hearts Together (formerly HeartSWell) are proud to say that we have provided over £500K of equipment to cardiology departments across Devon & Cornwall. Most recently we have provided grant funding to support the purchase of a transoesophageal echocardiogram simulator which enables cardiology teams to train in a simulated environment as opposed to requiring live operating scenarios.

MYO Vista for Treliske

With the support of our fundraisers in Cornwall - The Camelford Group - we have donated a High Sensitivity MYO Vista ECG machine to Treliske hospital to enable research into the rapid access chest pain pathway for patients across the UK.

Catheter Lab for University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust

Our charity have provided grant funding to support with the expansion of the catheterisation labs at Derriford hospital. The new catheter lab is due to open in spring 2019 and will provide treatment for in excess of 1,000 patients from across the peninsula each year.

Arrhythmia Nurses

Hearts Together (formerly HeartSWell) donations provided grant funding for two Arrhythmia Care Co-Ordinator posts as part of a pilot project at Derriford Hospital over a three-year period.

Carolyn Stewart and Debbie Welsh are specialists in providing care for patients with heart rhythm problems and those undergoing curative procedures such as ablations, patients with implantable devices such as defibrillators and screening families with inherited cardiac conditions.

Following the success of this pilot project, at the end of the three-year period we are pleased to report that these roles have now become permanent and are fully funded by the NHS.

If you provide care, treatment or support to cardiac patients, carers or relatives and would like to enquire about grant funding for your project please complete this form and email it to us at: [email protected]
