What a truly amazing gem of a place, from the first time I came here I knew this was the place I wanted to stay whilst Keith was in the hospital. I originally only booked to stay just a few days, I never dreamed I would be here for 10 1/2 weeks. My Husband originally went in for surgery and unfortunately had complications which meant that he required further unplanned surgery and his recovery time was uncertain.

Staying at Hearts Together during this turbulent time felt like a warm blanket was wrapped around me like a big hug, the place is a home from home. I felt safe and secure, they have thought of everything, every little detail. The rooms are beautiful, and the wonderful amazing staff, who go out of their way to look after you and make sure you are ok, are so helpful and caring, I will remember them all forever.

Keith is thankfully now doing well and on the mend, however, at times his recovery was unpredictable and uncertain, it was a rollercoaster. This meant that I wasn’t always certain of how long I would need to stay and what the next few days or weeks would look like. The staff team completely understood the situation and made sure that I was able to remain close to Keith throughout. The flexibility and support from this place was amazing, it instantly took away the added stress of wondering how I would support him, as I don’t drive and would be unable to visit from Cornwall daily. There is no way I could have stayed in a standard hotel under the same circumstances, as I wouldn’t have been able to afford it, but more so as they wouldn’t have been sympathetic to my situation or given me the support that the Hearts Together team and Counsellors did.

As the weeks went on my daughter could easily come and stay with me, providing support for both Keith and me. I was also able to bring Keith to the Hotel during his recovery to provide respite and different surroundings, which was much needed. The location of the hotel is so peaceful and relaxing, especially when the Deer are in the garden.

Everyone staying at Hearts Together has their own story as to why they’re there, as I was staying on my own, having a communal space where you would chat to others in similar circumstances was so helpful. I made friends with a gentleman also staying whose wife was having similar surgery as my Husband, and to this day we have kept in contact and supported each other. Having this support made me feel like I was less alone, having someone to talk through things with is such a great support.

If it wasn’t for Hearts Together, I don’t know what I would have done, being able to be close by to support Keith during his recovery was a huge support. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, a truly amazing gem of a place, thank you so much.
