Your local charity Hearts Together is looking for willing volunteers with a little time to spare.

Hearts Together provide a number of support services for patients, carers and relatives, including overnight accommodation. Our Hospital Hotel is helpfully located just a hop, skip and a jump from Derriford Hospital, Nuffield Hospital and the hyperbaric centre - DDRC.

Our doors are open 365 days a year and with many guests staying each night we are looking for volunteers to lend a helping hand. So how could you help?

• Could you greet our guests and give them a tour of our facilities? Could you chat to them, make a cup of tea and offer the occasional biscuit?

• We have a busy team of housekeepers but an extra pair of hands to make the odd bed or two is always greatly appreciated if that is your area of expertise?

 

• We are fortunate to have a large garden area which those of you are a more green-fingered would be very welcome to help enhance and tend. Our garden is highly valued by our guests, offering peace and tranquillity during what can be very difficult times.

 

• We are just a few minutes’ walk away from the hospital but not all our guests are able to walk even this short distance. Could you give someone a lift to the hospital if they have missed the courtesy bus?

 

• Our hotel offers self-catering facilities however, in an emergency situation pre-planning is not always possible and sometimes stays are extended for much longer periods than are first expected. In these situations, could you take our guests shopping to pick up essential supplies?
